Random Fact of the Day – Spain

The Sagrada Família, is a minor basilica (Roman Catholic Church), located in Barcelona, Spain. This Church has a Unique Architecture mixed with Gothic and Art Nouveau styles, which was designed by Spanish Architect, Antoni Gaudi. I wonder if this is where we get the term “gaudy” from, which means “extravagantly bright or showy, typically so as to be tasteless.” However the Church may be ostentatious, but it is very beautiful, regardless if it is still not complete. That is right. This Church has been under construction for over 130 years. Construction began in 1882, and it is not expected to be completed until at least 2026. Definitely on my bucket list!

Random Fact of the Day – Bolivia

The largest deposit of salt on the planet is found in Bolivia. The Salar de Uyuni (Uyuni salt beds or salt flats) contain over 64 million tons of salt! The Salar contains large amounts of sodium, potassium, lithium and magnesium, as well as borax. Lithium is a vital component of many electric batteries. Bolivia holds about 43% of the world’s lithium reserves. When it rains a thin layer of water lies on top of the salts and it is a sight, as the sky is reflected in the water for as far as the eye can see sometimes. This gives the illusion of being surrounded all over (as in under foot) by skies.
